A showcase of international artist Choi Jeong Hwa’s work are now exhibited in K11, featuring three large scale art: Including Love me!, Sweet, Sweet, and Life, Life. Choi’s works are inspired by everyday life, and he likes to makes oversized objects from moulded plastics.
Love me! It is in the form of shocking pink pig with wings, its height is 5 meters tall, plus it inflates and deflates! “It’s alive!” The slow breathing pattern of the pig is symbolized as eternal of life and death.
Whereas Sweet Sweet is a tree made from silicon copies of Korean sweets, this piece is about temptation, because sweets are made to look attractive, perhaps all sugar is very bad for health; and Life Life, which is my favorite. It has whole alots of balloons, and then the public can choose to add theirs to the installation. I love it because it reminds me what it felt like to be a child! Being free & playful!

“this cold rain soon will be turning into white snow / it will cover this quiet little town / this cozy little town / if I try to take back time / though nothing will change your mind / there will be a man who’s same as me / because it’s always me and you / too far to touch your hands / still running down a windy road / too far to touch your face / still running to a rainy coast / still I never know what I could do for you / I don’t know what I could do for you / this cold rain soon will be turning into white snow / it will cover this quiet little town / this cozy little town”

My dear friend, Frankie Piper, founder of Visual vom, came to Hong Kong last Saturday and had a splendid time wondering around. One of the favorite boutiques was DayDream Nation, Daydream Nation is a Fashion Arts House founded in 2006, by brother and sister design duo Jing and Kay Wong. alongside their own collection of clothing and accessories, also showcasing local artists, indie bands, and running creative programs.
And here comes – Karen, Tsi Kwan Lau & Gabriel Leung photographers for DayDream Nation 2012 SS12 – “The show must go on”. Lau & Leung were born in Hong Kong; Lau studied at Chelsea College of Art and Design, while Leung finished his undergraduate Temple University. and he is currently lives and works in Glasgow, UK at the same time a Master of Fine Arts candidate at the Glasgow School of Art. The theme “The Show must go on” explains as “The End of the world is near, some people choose to procrastinate, some people choose to steal and break. Some people though, decided that the SHOW MUST GO ON!”. I terribly love the theme of it, and when I was flipping through the SS12 catalog, I couldn’t resist to take one home and Frankie, of cause, took one as well. We both love the colors and the style that they did. It is not just a fashion catalog, it is a storybook, each image has so much to tell. And now I so want to have my own “the show must go on”.

This coming year, I am gonna take a step further, leaving the comfort steady paycheck to pursuit my dreams. Here are not just the written words and I am fully committed the plan that I have for this year. There are lots of unknown for sure, sometimes I feel uncertain of the decisions I make. So I pray, and I pray hard – “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
One of the questions always pops up or I get asked “what do you wanna be?” “what kind of work do you want to do?” I can honestly tell you “I don’t know. I am not too sure yet.” All I know that is I enjoy working at the digital platform as a medium, plus I love photography and as always. So does this sound confusing? I have a plan / dreams that I want to pursuit but I am not too sure what I want to do!?Emm… Let’s put in this way, I am not too sure what I will be in the years to come.
Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would most likely be worth it. Never stop chasing your DREAM; today isn’t just another day, it’s one day given to you, to me. It’s a gift.
Walk on, 2012!
